Original vintage football (soccer) photograph album containing approximately 150 photographs dating primarily from 1957-1959. Album cover is marked "J. V. Montes de Oca H." and contains original period photographs documenting Central American and Caribbean football during the late 1950s. Images include player portraits, international matches, club matches, goalkeepers, goalmouth action, stadium scenes, crowds, training, locker room scenes, and on-field play.
Identified subjects within the album include El Salvador National Team, Curaçao National Team, Orión, Gimnástica, Universidad, and possibly additional Costa Rican and Salvadoran clubs. Captions and notes associated with the photographs identify players and football figures including Ricardo Tomás, Ronald Martell, Sánchez, Quesada, C. Franco, M. B. Villacorta, and L. Vázquez. One documented photograph records the international match El Salvador vs. Curaçao, played in 1957 and ending in a 1-1 draw. Another identified photograph documents the Costa Rican league match Orión vs. Gimnástica on May 10, 1959, including a caption referencing Gimnástica goalkeeper Sánchez and an attack by Quesada.
Several photographs are attributed to photographer Roy Archila (Archila Molina), a Salvadoran sports photographer and journalist associated with Fotoradio and later El Diario de Hoy. Numerous photographs retain original editorial captions, player identifications, match information, and period annotations. Stadium signage visible in the photographs includes Radio Reloj and Abonos Superior, with several images appearing to have been taken at major football venues in Costa Rica and El Salvador during the 1950s.
