Moore left his village as a child and returned to live on the Hopi reservation as a senior citizen in 1998. It was in that year, at the age of 64, Moore started carving dolls. Five years later, in 2003, he entered Phoenix\'s Heard Museum Guild Indian Fair and Market and won \"Best of Show\"
