Colonel Brand lighter from the 23rd International Ladies Garment Workers Union convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1937. The lighter, which appears to have been well used and designed to be windproof, is lacking a flint and fluid although the working parts seem to be moving well. It is worn and needs a good cleaning which I will leave to the buyer.
The lighter measures about 1 3/8 x 2 1/4 inches and is about 1/4 inch thick. It has a red jewel like red circle (perhaps glass or plastic) which has an ILGWU part or sticker over its center.
A wonderful, historic survivor of an event in the history of one of the early unions of the United States labor union movement.
