About Hideriyama: a mine in the Tamba region of Kyoto Prefecture, formerlyknown as Tonda-yama. The mine is now closed. Hideriyama stones are generallydescribed as slightly softer than average, roughly #8000-#20000, leaving akasumi (hazy) finish.
Described by the previous owner (not verified by me): "Ikimurasaki, very softand gentle feel, smooth sharpening, no lines, kasumi finish."
Please note: I am not an expert in Japanese natural whetstones. The described type and intended use may not be accurate. I have not lapped, flattened, or test-sharpened this stone, and no maintenance has been carried out. Sold as-is in its current condition.
Condition:This is a used item. It may have cracks, fine lines, chips, staining, scratches or other flaws. Please check all photos carefully before purchasing - the photos are part of the description. Some flaws may be noticeable by touch even if they are difficult to see in the photos.
Every natural stone is one of a kind - the stone in the photos is exactly the stone you will receive.
