Vol XVI No. 784 through Vol XVI No. 796, January 5, 1872 through March 30, 1872, These issues appear to be disbound with some small holes on the inside edges. They appear to be complete, including supplements. All pages appear to be present as all page numbers seem to be included up to page 264. The pages of most of the issues have been sewn together, but some of the pages are loose.They include portions of a Wilkie Collins story, "Poor Miss Finch" and "Miss or Mrs." and part of the novel Middlemarsh by George Eliot is also serialized in these issues. Many of these issues have illustrations by Thomas Nast.These issues are in good condition with some gears or chipped edges on a few pages. Other flaws are mentioned below. All sheets measures 11" x 15-3/4".January 6: Features Thomas Nast’s critical cartoons against the corrupt Tweed Ring, including "Stone Walls Do Not a Prison Make" and "The Dwarf and the Giant Thief". Also a full page illustrated "The Dawning of the New Year" by Jules Taverner. Front cover has a piece torn off the top that does not affect the printing.
January 13: Features an illustration "The Road to Gretna Green".January 20: Features Horace Greeley. There is a double page illustration "Winter" by Jule R Tavernier. One page has a horizontal tear running through the entire page.January 27: Features Ku Klux Klan, Mormonism, The Prince of Wales and family. The last couple of pages io the publication is a bit off kilter due to a printer's error.February 3: Features T. De Witt Talmage, Grand Central Depot New York.February 10: Features trains, politics. Has a small piece torn off the top that doesn't affect the text.February 17: Features the "Be Saved by Free Love" Illustration by Thomas Nast. Has a small piece torn off the top of the first couple of pages that doesn't affect the text.
