Joe Colombo Optic Alarm Clock by Alessi in Excellent Vintage Condition For Sale

Optic alarm clock by Joe Colombo in excellent vintage condition. Originally designed by Colombo in 1970 for Ritz Italora, and now included in MOMA\'s permanent design collection. The Optic was reissued in 1988, and this particular clock is the Alessi reissue.The clock comes in its original box, with all of its original brochures and packaging materials. It features a white case with black and red hands and a white face. The 64-page Alessi brochure included with this clock has a good bit of biographical information about Joe Colombo, as well as three other Alessi clock designers.The brochure and box included with our clock are dated 1988, which is the year Alessi added the Optic to its clock collection. Not sure of whether this particular clock was produced in 1988 or later. As I understand it, this particular version of the Optic (with a numeral for every minute on the edge of the dial), was produced intermittently by Alessi from 1988 through 2004. It sounds like Alessi also produced a version for a bit of time after 2010, but the clock we have for sale is 1988-2004 production.This clock is in excellent vintage condition, with no scratches, chips, or repairs. I won\'t call it NOS since we had it out on a shelf for a while, but I don\'t see any defects. Please look at the detailed photos and judge for yourself. The original box also has a small amount of shelf wear.This clock includes its original high-quality German quartz movement, and has been in storage for several years. I put a battery in for a couple of days and it kept great time. The alarm also works well. Please note, however, that the continued operation and accuracy of this clock movement is not guaranteed. Note also that a battery will not be included with the clock because of shipping restrictions, but the clock takes a standard N cell.Dimensions are approximately 3.25\" tall by 3.25\" deep by 3.25\" wide.
This is a beautiful, complete collector\'s set that would be a great find for any Joe Colombo, Alessi, or mid-century clock collector.Stored in a cool, clean, and smoke-free home.
