Patinated attitude oozes from these brass sidewalk advertising stencils designed by Carl Kaelin, founder of Kaelin\'s Restaurant, \"Birthplace of the Cheeseburger\", in the Highlands area of Louisville KY. Founder Carl Kaelin, noted for discovering the cheeseburger, loved doing unique promotions in his family restaurant he and his wife established in 1934. These stencils represent one of those \"brilliant advertising\" adventures that found Carl stenciling life size shoe prints and the slogan YUM! YUM! KEEP WALKING on sidewalks in the vicinity of his restaurant post-war.
Now, these OOAK stencils are considered POP ART!
Acquired from Carl\'s daughter\'s living estate and will be accompanied by provenance . The YUM! YUM! KEEP WALKING stencil measures 34\" x 20\" and the individual life size footprint stencils each measure 16\" x 10\".
From our special archives; pet and smoke free collection.
History in brief>
Kaelin\'s is the first restaurant to have included a \"cheeseburger\" on their menu in 1934. They were the first restaurant authorized to serve Kentucky Fried Chicken and have possession of the secret recipe in 1938 by their good friend Harlan Sanders. The first carry-out window started there in 1942, and the first drive-thru was created by Carl Kaelin in 1951.
The history of this renowned restaurant continues in a new venture in the same building \"80/20 at Kaelin\'s\".
