This all-white porcelain sculpture is a very rare and quite collectible Kati Zorn male figurine entitled \"Bookend Man \"- item#: 9539 from her EROS series which she created between 1979 & 1982. This high-quality piece was crafted from fine white German porcelain at the Älteste Volkstedter Porzellan Manufaktur porcelain factory in Thuringia. It shows a male figure sitting on a block with its hand raised to its shoulder and knee resting against his chest. The male wears a tight-fitting one-piece old fashion style bathing suit like outfit. With a somber masculine face and muscular body this piece has an erotic quality. The sculpture has a retro Art Deco appeal. It measures approximately 7 1/2 inches high, 2 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide and is in excellent used pre-owned condition. This piece comes from a Kati Zorn porcelain collection of pieces entitled \"Eros\" which includes a male figure, a female figure and a piece showing them together in a loving and passionate embrace. It has the full blue markings of the Älteste Volkstedter Porzellan Manufaktur factory on its base, and the reverse embossed Kati Zorn logo on the back bottom right. Kati Zorn German porcelain is highly collectible, and her pieces are becoming more and more scarce. These pieces are very sought after and make a great investment. This is a very beautiful item that would enhance any quality porcelain collection. The figurine is referred to as a bookend but is perfectly justified being referred to as a stand-alone object d\'art.

Bookend man - erosThe artwork: Kati Zorn\'s porcelain series thematizes the arduous path of both sexes coming closer together. The protagonists of the story are a woman, a man and a winged Eros. The bookend shows a seated longing man, with his head bowed, his shoulders drooping and a sad look. It seems hopeless to him to ever meet the woman of his dreams. Slumped, his left leg pulled towards his body, he follows imaginary tracks on his right knee with his left hand, discouraged. As if he wanted to give himself support, his right hand rests on his left shoulder. Here, Eros still has a lot of work ahead of him if he is to succeed in the coup. The \"Bookend Man\" made of glazed porcelain is elaborately painted by hand. It is the counterpart to the \"Bookend Woman\"
