Kinoite with Fluorapophyllite-(K), Christmas Mine,Christmas, Banner Mining District, Gila County, Arizona, USA This specimen is a stunning thumbnail (TN) featuringvibrant, electric-blue, sparkling microcrystals of kinoite, a rare calciumcopper silicate. The kinoite is highlighted by beautifully crystallized,colorless, water-clear fluorapophyllite*. Notably, the kinoite crystals areprimarily free-standing, which is less common for this locality, as is the rich,deep blue color saturation. The specimen originates from the renowned Christmas Mine inArizona, recognized as one of the most important mineral localities in theUnited States. The Christmas Mine is celebrated for producing the finest examplesof kinoite. With the closure of the mine in 1982, specimens of this qualityhave become increasingly scarce. According to Mindat, kinoite is known to occurexclusively in the United States and two other countries, making this exampleparticularly significant for collectors.
