Vintage Korean najeonchilgi mother-of-pearl lacquer jewelry cabinet by recognized master artisan Seong Gwan-ho (성관호 / 成官鎬) dating to the late 1970s or early 1980s.
The cabinet bears Seong Gwan-ho’s formal square maker’s seal on the reverse:
Beautifully decorated throughout with iridescent mother-of-pearl flowers, foliage, birds and butterflies over glossy black lacquer. The shell produces wonderful flashes of lavender, pink, blue, green and gold as the viewing angle changes.
Double front doors open to reveal four removable red-lined drawers. Decorative butterfly hinges and front hardware complement the elaborate nature-themed decoration.
This is a named and sealed artisan piece rather than an unsigned Korean decorative lacquer box.
Includes its original patterned presentation box.
