THOMAS CARY (1745-1800) of Newburyport, MA, was a liberal Congregational Minister whose religious philosophy reflected the rational, moderate and tolerant theology that was emerging in New England during the 18th century, establishing a bridge between traditional Puritan orthodoxy and early Unitarianism.
