This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 10 x 8 inches (254x203mm).

It shows an armoured vehicle driving up the ramp into the open bow doors of a Landing Ship, Tank (LST). The ship is moored at a paved slipway in a port, with military personnel visible on the deck and standing nearby. The letters 'US' are painted in large white characters on the side of the ship's hull.

The reverse has a pasted typewritten caption reading 'Loading the Thousandth L.S.T. Photo Shows:- At a British port an armoured tank-destroyer is driven into the thousandth Tank Landing Ship to be loaded since D Day. W Jan. 9 1945 PN Censor No. 383352'. There is also a blue stamp for 'Planet News Ltd. 3 Johnson's Court, Fleet Street, London, E.C.4' and another stamp reading 'As Having Been Passed By Censor'.
