Recovered from the famous Lee Creek phosphate mine in Aurora NCwhile searching for Megalodon shark teeth. Thismine has been closed to collectors since 2008.
Aurora NC fossils are highly prized by collectors due to their unique colors and excellent preservation. This is NOT a common black or brown whale rib bone frequently found elsewhere!
Great preservation with good detail. Excellent trabecular pattern inside the bone. Beautiful Aurora NC colors. Solid and heavy.
Measures approximately 7.5\" L x 3.84\" W (and 2.34\" thick).
