In daylight, this large Sterling Hill specimen shows the classic ore-grade texture: a pale white calcite matrix studded with lustrous black franklinite grains and scattered olive-tan willemite crystals across the face. The granular salt-and-pepper character is textbook for the locality.Under shortwave, the specimen ignites into a dense mosaic of brilliant electric green willemite grains scattered across a field of vivid red-orange calcite, with the black franklinite staying completely non-fluorescent and carving sharp contrast into the glowing surface. Under longwave the calcite shifts to a deep pink-red while the willemite grains hold a bright yellow-green, giving the piece a noticeably different character at each wavelength. Strong fluorescent coverage carries across multiple faces rather than concentrating on a single display side, making this a substantial all-around specimen at nearly four pounds.⸻🌍 Composition
• Willemite — Zn₂SiO₄ — brilliant electric green under SW UV, bright yellow-green under LW UV
• Calcite — CaCO₃ — vivid red-orange under SW UV, deep pink-red under LW UV
• Franklinite — ZnFe₂O₄ — non-fluorescent at both wavelengths, black grains providing contrast
• Natural, untreated specimen from the Sterling Hill Mine, Ogdensburg, NJ⸻✨ Features
• Dense, high-contrast mosaic of electric green willemite grains across vivid red-orange calcite under SW UV
• Heavy franklinite content creating sharp black relief against the glowing minerals
• Dual-wavelength response, activating strongly under both LW and SW
• Strong fluorescent coverage on multiple faces, not just one display side
• Large display-grade size at 5.7 in and 3 lb 13.2 oz
• Sourced from the historic Sterling Hill Mine, Ogdensburg, Sussex County, NJ, one of the world\'s most famous fluorescent mineral localities⸻🔦 Fluorescence
• LW UV (Lumenbeast 365nm): calcite deep pink-red; willemite bright yellow-green; franklinite non-fluorescent
• SW UV (Stimac Engineering 255nm): willemite brilliant electric green; calcite vivid red-orange; franklinite non-fluorescent⸻📸 Photography Notes
