MCM Large Leaf Console Planter Turquoise/Teal and Silver/Platinum California Pottery 1950s Likely Miramar/Caliente 17.75” x 6.5”
This is a stunningly beautiful, substantial 17.75 inch vintage mid-century modern art pottery console planter. Featuring a striking "double leaf" overlapping silhouette, this piece is a classic example of 1950s California-style atomic decor. The planter is finished in a vibrant, high-gloss turquoise/teal glaze. The flowing edges are hand-detailed with a metallic silver-tone/liquid-platinum trim that beautifully highlights its organic, biomorphic shape.
Size: Approximately 17.75 inches long—a fantastic statement size for a dining table centerpiece, credenza, or coffee table.
The Base: The bottom features two original kiln firing/vent holes and post-purchase applied cushioning tape to keep it stable and still on a flat surface. Like many Miramar or Caliente pottery items from this era, it was originally distributed with a paper/foil label rather than an incised stamp, leaving the base unmarked.
Condition: Beautiful vintage condition with no major cracks or repairs. The high-gloss turquoise glaze is bright and smooth. There is a small anomaly (shown in the close up photos) that is original to the piece. The fragile metallic silver trim shows minor age-appropriate rubbing consistent with age. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the condition description.
