Peet was born in Laurens, New York on August 18, 1888 to Reverend Doctor Edwin Bailey Olmstead and Anna Coralynne Olmstead. She married Mortimer Silas Peet (1881–1929) and had one son, Olmstead Peet (1912-2003). She was a local historian and created maps on the history of places in New York state and of family migrations.
