HENRY CABOT LODGE (1850-1924) was a lawyer and a statesman from Massachusetts. He was a member of the Republican Party and served in the United States Senate from 1893 to 1924 and is best known for his positions on foreign policy. Lodge led opposition to President Woodrow Wilson’s World War I Peace Treaty and The League of Nations.

TIMOTHY PICKERING (1745-1829) was the third United States Secretary of State under presidents George Washington and John Adams. He also represented Massachusetts in both houses of Congress as a member of the Federalist Party.
