Mid-Century Popeye the Sailor 21\" Doll, c. 1950s–1960s For Sale

This wonderfully expressive vintage Popeye doll brings all the personality of the classic sailor man into one great display piece. Measuring approximately 21\" long, he features Popeye’s unmistakable winking face, oversized chin, sailor cap, and molded pipe, all with that bold cartoon charm collectors love.

The doll has a molded rubber head and rubber arms with a cloth stuffed body, dressed in his classic sailor-style outfit: navy top, red collar, striped neck detail, blue pinstriped pants, and black shoes. The pipe is molded as part of the face rather than being a separate piece, which is a nice detail for display.

Popeye first appeared in E.C. Segar’s Thimble Theatre comic strip in 1929 and quickly became one of the most recognizable cartoon characters of the 20th century. By the mid-century years, Popeye had sailed far beyond the funny pages, becoming a fixture of cartoons, advertising, toys, and children’s rooms across America. This doll captures that wonderful era when comic-strip characters became beloved household collectibles.
