The figure presents an oval, helmet-like head with a carved face in profile — deep-set eyes, a straight nose, and pursed mouth — set atop a slender, elongated neck. The body is reduced to a smooth, columnar form tapering to a flat cylindrical base, in keeping with the abstracted, minimalist style typical of Biiga carving. The surface has a weathered two-tone patina, dark grey-brown with lighter striated passages of wood exposed through wear.
Among the Mossi, Biiga dolls were traditionally carried by young girls and women in the hope of ensuring fertility and a beautiful, healthy child, later becoming treasured personal or ceremonial objects.
