Hi , up for sale is an appreciation certificate issued by Nasa to Fred Pichelmann for his work during a Space Shuttle flight STS-3 . After liftoff, the landing strip at Edwards AFB became unusable due to flooding and Nasa was forced to use an alternate landing site in Arizona. From what I\'ve read, 40 railroad cars of Space Shuttle equipment had to be shipped from Edwards AFB as soon as possible. The Area Supervisor for Santa Fe Railroads was Fred Pichelmann who was instrumental in the shipment of the equipment. This award was given to Mr. Pichelmann. The Item was purchased at his estate sale. The oak frame measures 11-1/2\' x 9-1/2\".
