NEVER INKED 1972 PARKER 61 CONSORT CONVERTER FILLER 14K M NIB FOUNTAIN PEN MINT:
$300.00

For your consideration, we are delighted to offer this exceptional circa 1972 Parker 61 Consort Fountain Pen, featuring the distinctive 1/5 12CT Rolled Gold Gird Cap and a 14K Medium gold nib. Preserved in Mint, New Old Stock, and Never Inked condition, this remarkable example represents a particularly desirable and difficult-to-find version of the Parker 61, especially in such outstanding original condition.

The Parker 61 Consort was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1967 and featured a distinctive 1/5 12-carat rolled gold cap in the intricate brick or grid pattern. This cap contained twice the gold used on the Parker Insignia of the period and replaced the earlier Heirloom models with their rainbow-patterned caps. By 1969, Parker had discontinued the original capillary-filling system in favor of the Mark III cartridge/converter system, making this later Consort both historically interesting and more convenient for everyday use. The Consort remained in production until approximately 1972.

This example is fitted with the later cartridge/converter filling system and retains the classic Parker 61 silhouette, streamlined profile, and distinctive inlaid arrow design. The black barrel and rolled gold cap are exceptionally well preserved, with no chips, cracks, dents, dings, visible wear, or repairs. The 12CT rolled gold surface remains bright and lustrous, while the intricate Gird or brick-pattern engraving retains excellent definition. The cap lip is clearly stamped, “PARKER Made in England Parker Logo 1/5 12CT R.Gold.” There are no monograms, engravings, or personalizations, and the slip cap engages securely with the original precision and authority expected of a fine Parker 61.

The pen measures approximately 5 3/8 inches capped and 5 5/8 inches posted, with a weight of approximately 0.65 ounces. Its proportions provide the comfortable, balanced writing experience for which the Parker 61 is well regarded.

The pen is fitted with a superb 14K gold Medium nib, measuring approximately .75mm with digital calipers. Remarkably, both the nib and the pen remain completely uninked. This example was acquired from a collection of more than 150 Parker 61 fountain pens, reportedly all never inked. Following careful inspection and flushing, no evidence of previous inking was found. As tempting as it may be, I chose to preserve this particular pen in its original, untouched condition, allowing its next owner to decide whether it should remain a collector’s piece or receive its first fill of ink.

The included Parker converter has been tested with water and functions properly, and the pen is also compatible with standard Parker cartridges. An original Parker 61 presentation box accompanies the pen, adding to its appeal and completing an impressive presentation.

Although the Parker 61 Consort is already an uncommon model, examples featuring the distinctive 1/5 12CT rolled gold Gird-pattern cap are particularly difficult to locate in this level of preservation. Finding one that remains Mint, New Old Stock, and genuinely Never Inked makes this an especially appealing opportunity for the dedicated Parker collector.

A truly outstanding Parker 61 Consort, combining an elegant rolled gold cap, a desirable later filling system, original presentation packaging, and remarkable never-inked condition. A distinguished addition to any serious Parker or vintage fountain pen collection.
