Up for your consideration is a beautiful antique Nagoya Shofu Nippon hand painted Moriage tea set from Japan, dating to the early 1900s. This elegant set features raised gold enamel decoration with delicate floral motifs accented in soft blue and pink tones. The craftsmanship and heavy gold detailing give the pieces a rich, luxurious look and make this a wonderful display or collection set.
The set includes a teapot with lid, sugar bowl with lid, creamer, four teacups, four saucers, and a square tray. The pieces show the classic Moriage technique with textured gold outlining and fine hand painted detail. The bottom marks read Nagoya Shofu is about 8.5” from handle to spout and 5.5” tall with lid. Sugar bowl is about 6.5” handle to handle and 4.5” tall with lid. Creamer is about 5” handle to spout and 3.25” tall. Cups are about 4” across the rim and 2” tall. Saucers measure about 5.5” in diameter. Tray measures about 6” x 6”.
Condition is very good overall with normal light wear from age and use. Gold is strong and vibrant. No chips, cracks, or crazing were noted. Please review all photos for the best condition details.
