Natchez Trace Parkway Horse with Rider Travel Souvenir Patch New For Sale

Up for sale is a vintage Natchez Trace Parkway embroidered souvenir/collector patch featuring the historic Postrider emblem, complete with its older clear plastic sleeve and informational paper insert.

The patch features the traditional circular “NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY” design with a mounted postrider beneath the trees. The Postrider has long been used by the National Park Service as a symbol associated with the Natchez Trace Parkway and its early postal-route history. National Park Service material explains that mounted postriders carried mail along the historic Trace and that the Postrider became an official symbol used for the Parkway.

The Natchez Trace itself is one of the oldest travel corridors in North America, with human use extending back thousands of years. The route was used by Native American nations, traders, travelers and later postal riders. Congress established the Natchez Trace Parkway as part of the National Park System in 1938 to commemorate this historic travel corridor.

What makes this example especially appealing to a collector is that it has remained together with its older informational insert and clear storage sleeve rather than being just a loose patch. The included paper discusses the history of the Trace, early trade along the Mississippi River and the postal-route connection between Natchez and Nashville. The paper itself shows significant age and storage wear, which helps preserve the period character of the set.

This item comes from my stepfather’s longtime private Harley-Davidson dealership collection. He owned and operated a Harley-Davidson dealership for approximately 45 years, and over that period accumulated thousands of dealership, motorcycle-travel, souvenir, promotional and Americana collectibles. This Natchez Trace Parkway patch was preserved as part of that collection for many years.

This is being sold as a vintage collectible in its current condition.

The embroidered patch shows age-related wear including fading, surface lint/fibers, thread wear, discoloration and other characteristics consistent with long-term storage. The paper insert shows considerable age, including torn/missing portions, creasing, discoloration, worn edges and some loss of printed material. The clear plastic sleeve is also old and shows wrinkles, creasing, cloudiness and general storage wear.

I have intentionally not cleaned, restored, washed or altered the patch or paper insert, as collectors often prefer original vintage items to remain as found.
