When I first started collecting fossil sponges my source for inspiration was the Treatise of Invertebrate Paleontology Volume E Porifera. Nevadacoelia was one of those sponges I ached to get in my collection but was unattainable. It is only found in a remote location that is both dangerous and difficult to get to. Then almost thirty years later I made acquatences with a retired geologist who had studied the area in the 1960\'s and had the sponge I had for so long sought out. Additionally he had multiple genus and species from this iconic locality.
