Condition and steel — read this

Unused. Factory edge. Box, papers, and inserts ship with it. The cardboard box has ordinary storage rub on the corners — the knife does not. Steel is not stamped on the blade. This is the Taiwan 7904. Later China-made Cruisers are cataloged as 8Cr14MoV. Period Taiwan Hammond Cruisers are the run collectors treat as AUS-8. We are not inventing a stamp that is not on the knife. Judge from the pictures.

Description & History

Columbia River Knife & Tool started in Oregon in 1994. Rod Bremer and Paul Gillespie built the company around designer collaborations and the line “For those who serve.” That slogan is still on this box. Early CRKT production for several Hammond and Carson patterns ran in Taiwan before later runs moved to China.

Jim Hammond is a Birmingham, Alabama custom maker. CRKT translated his Cruiser into a production InterFrame liner lock: long Zytel handle, deep choil, thumb ramp, 3.75\" work blade. Patent 5,596,808 is the Hammond mark on this blade. The Cruiser is discontinued.

This example is the black 7904 plain-edge Taiwan knife — not the Desert tan 7904DI / 7904DIN, not the combo 7914, and not a later China box. Complete NIB kit as photographed.
