This is a unique and rare find! A huge 53-pound petrified wood log, featuring a thick layer of chalcedony with beautiful sparkling druzy and perfectly replicated wood details. Other desirable features include a beautiful vibrant coloring throughout this piece, visible growth rings along with a beautiful detailed center, there is a perfect heart shaped hole on one end, a hag hole on one side that is through and through, this petrified fossil wood also has a freestanding ability on either end-making it easy to display so all sides (save for the one it stands on) are visible, and there is a ton of agate/chalcedony that is present all over this beautiful piece! This particular piece was collected from east central Texas in the “Brazos Valley” Brazos County Texas near the cities of Bryan/College Station home of Texas A&M University ~ The fighting Aggies!
Geological ~ Yegua fm ~ known for its beautiful well preserved petrified wood. There are several houses in that area that are made from petrified wood instead of rock or brick…it is a fantastic area. Just one of Texas’ many hidden gems. If you ever find yourself driving through that area keep looking at the houses…there are several just off the side of the interstate!
