Original brick fragment from the Ninety Six Jailhouse, built ca. 1772.
During the American Revolution, Loyalists used the jailhouse and nearby courthouse for protection and the like. Outside of LOyalist control, it was also used to imprison loyalists during the war.The note of provenance notes this item's history. It is a typed label that was taped on. The tape has come loose. I don't know any other provenance other than what is listed here.
