This is an original pen-and-ink editorial artwork by Puerto Rican cartoonist Miche Medina, created for publication in El Mundo, one of Puerto Rico\'s most influential newspapers. Medina was born in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic in the 1930\'s, and arrived in Puerto Rico after working for the newspaper La Nacion in his home country. Miche settled in Rio Piedras, and his cartoons became essential visuals for the identity for El Mundo.
This original titledEPÍLOGO\"Epilogue\"Recta Final\"Final Stretch\"depicts Napoleón Reyes, manager of the Caguas Criollos, riding an exhausted horse labeled \"Caguas\" during the season\'s final stretch. Medina cleverly references both the historical Battle of Waterloo and Reyes\'s first name, using the metaphor to comment on Caguas\'s fading championship hopes. The cartoon combines baseball, history, and political-style satire in Medina\'s distinctive style.
