Original Korean War Era U.S. Army, M1 Helmet Liner, Technical Sergeant Insignia For Sale

Military Green M1 Technical Sergeant - With tactical painted insignia (3 chevrons up, 2 rockers underneath). Alongside Westinghouse & Firestone, Capac was contracted to provide liners that helped with efforts to make a better, more protective liner. In September 1942, Capac delivered its first batch of helmet liners to U.S. Army when the military abandoned the paper-pulp liners (Hawley liners). Capac produced between 2-4 million liners from 1942-1945 until halting production on August 17th, 1945 (the end of WWII). They then were contracted again to supply M1 Helmet liners for the Korean War.

Capac's M1 liners were known for their distinct cross-hatch weave layering resin-impregnated cotton duck fabric. They pressed the the material into a mold. The interior walls of the Capac liner feature a highly visible cross hatch canvas pattern that is much more pronounced compared to Westinghouse. They also used squared off washers which was one of their production signatures. These small steel washers anchored to the interior walls of the helmet liner through the green straps.
