This is a Pelikan 400NN M&K Black fountain pen.
The 400NN M&K is a model manufactured by Merz & Krell in the 1970s, based on the Pelikan 400NN originally produced during the 1950s and 1960s. Production of the original 400NN ended in 1965, but due to continued demand for the traditional design, Merz & Krell resumed production of the 400NN around 1973. The M&K version was produced approximately from 1973 to 1978.
This pen features a black resin body combined with a gold-colored clip and cap ring, giving it a classic appearance. The M&K-made 400NN differs from the earlier 400NN in several design details. Notable features include the nearly flush transition between the barrel and piston knob, as well as the smoother transition between the grip section and barrel. The cap threads also differ from those of the earlier 400NN.
The pen is fitted with a 14C gold nib. The nib size is EF (Extra Fine). Due to the extra-fine nib width, there is a slight amount of response when writing, but the ink flow is good and the pen writes properly. It is equipped with an ebonite feed.
The filling system is a piston-filling mechanism operated by turning the knob at the end of the barrel. Ink is drawn directly from an ink bottle, so no cartridges or converters are required.
The condition is Very Good. As this is a vintage item, there may be some minor scratches and signs of use or storage, but it remains in good overall condition considering its age. Please check the photos carefully for further details regarding the condition.
