According to the information in the book, Biography of Kruba Srivichai, the Saint of Lanna by Singha Wannasai, the initial life of Kruba Srivichai is stated as follows: He was born in the Year of the Tiger, the 9th month of the North or the 7th month of the Central Region, corresponding to the 11th waxing moon of the 1240th year of the Buddhist Era, at dusk, which was Tuesday, June 11, 1878, at Ban Pang, Mae Tuen Subdistrict, which is currently known as Tambon Srivichai, Amphoe Li, Lamphun Province.

He was the son of Mr. Kwai and Mrs. Usa, with 5 siblings in total. Their hometown was Ban San Pa Yang Luang, north of Lamphun City. On the day Mrs. Usa went into labor, the sun was almost 6 pm.

Mr. Kwai and his relatives, along with the midwife, took full care of Mrs. Usa’s delivery. At that time, the bright sky turned dark and a strong storm came, causing heavy rain and thunder.

Until finally, Mrs. Usa gave birth to a baby with a crying sound and miraculously, the sound of the rain and storm stopped. The family of Mr. Kwai named the newborn baby "Intafuean" which in the Lanna language means shaking or rumbling.

When he was a young boy of 17 years old, Mr. Fuen entered the path of Dharma, ordained as a novice at Wat Ban Pang, studying various subjects with Khru Ba Khattiya. When Samanera Intafuean was 21 years old, he was ordained as a monk at Wat Ban Hong Luang, Lamphun Province, and was given the name "Siriwichyo Bhikkhu" or "Phra Siwichai".

Phra Siwichai was rumored to have beautiful and strict conduct, such as abstaining from chewing betel, Miang, and smoking. He also abstained from eating meat since the age of 26 and ate only one meal, which was usually boiled vegetables with salt and pepper.

With his strict conduct, it created faith in Buddhists. Until he gathered Buddhists to build a walkway up Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Province, which was successful. The construction began on November 9, 1934 and was completed on April 30, 1935.

In addition to building the Doi Suthep walkway, he also organized the Sangha of the Lanna Thai Tripitaka, as well as building and restoring many temples. He was a virtuous person, so he was called "Phra Khru Ba Siltham Chao".

Phra Siwichai was interested in magic and believed it was a magical object that brought prosperity to life. It is said that because of his faith in magic, Phra Siwichai thought of disrobing. He also tattooed both legs in black ink, which was popular among Lanna men at that time.

At that time, Khru Ba Khattiya passed away, so Phra Siwichai held a cremation ceremony for his teacher. After that, since he was the monk with the longest ordination at that time, he was appointed as the abbot of the temple. Then, the temple was moved from its original location up on the mountain and named “Wat Sri Don Chai Sai Mun Bun Rueang”

The fame of Khru Ba Chao Sriwichai caused some monks in Lamphun Province, led by the provincial abbot of Lamphun, to establish a committee to accuse him of 8 offenses, such as acting like a “spirit of merit”, showing off his supernatural powers, gathering people’s strength, and plotting to rebel against the country. He was then imprisoned in Lamphun and Wat Sri Don Chai, Chiang Mai. He was then sent to Bangkok for questioning.

His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, Prince Vajirananavarorasa, therefore established a committee to consider the case of Phra Sriwichai, consisting of His Royal Highness Prince Chinnaworasiriwat, Phra Yannawaraphon (M.R. Chuen Sujitto), and Phra Thammatrailokachan (Charoen Yanawaro). They reported that on issues 1-5, which were about not cooperating with the government, Phra Sriwichai had confessed and received punishment.

On the remaining issues, which were about claiming special powers, Phra Sriwichai was not guilty because the people had spread the rumors themselves, and the abbot had punished him excessively. Phra Sriwichai should be released and returned to his hometown. His Royal Highness Prince Vajirananaroros approved.

Kruba Sriwichai passed away on February 21, 1938 at Wat Ban Pang, Li District, Lamphun Province, at the age of 60. His body was kept at Wat Ban Pang for 1 year before being moved to Wat Chamdevi, Mueang Lamphun District, Lamphun Province.
