Postcard c1920 Tours France 24 Cartes Postales Detachables Booklet LL Series For Sale

A plump accordion booklet of 24 detachable cards documenting Tours — the elegant city on the Loire whose Renaissance châteaux and Gothic cathedral made it one of the great stops on the early-twentieth-century Grand Tour — survives here in its original teal-and-brown printed card cover, the publisher\'s interlocked \"LL\" monogram shield (Lévy & Ses Fils, Paris, later Lévy & Neurdein) prominent in the lower right corner. Inside, folded leaves carry halftone views including the Théâtre Français facade, a detailed street map of Tours with the Loire islands and the Gare clearly marked, and multiple architectural subjects. The LL firm was France\'s dominant postcard publisher from the 1900s through the 1930s, their \"Carte Postale Détachable\" booklets aimed squarely at the growing tourist trade. The cover typography and printing style suggest a c.1915–1925 date. The spine is worn and the interior cards show age toning but the images are clear and the booklet appears largely intact — a wonderful document of interwar French provincial tourism.
