This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 8½ x 6 inches (215x150mm).

It shows US President Warren G. Harding standing between two US Navy sailors on the deck of a ship. Harding is wearing a pinstripe suit, bow tie, and flat cap, and is holding a pair of binoculars. The sailors are dressed in white uniforms with neckerchiefs and rating badges visible on their sleeves. They are standing in front of a polished wooden deckhouse structure with windows.

The reverse has a handwritten name "Harding" in pencil at the top. There is a blue stamp reading "COPYRIGHT BY CHARLES TRAMPUS 20, Rue du Sentier, PARIS (1er)". A typed English caption slip states "PRESIDENT HARDING APPEARS TO NATION TO GO TO WORK AS SALVATION. FULL SPEED AHEAD - IS SLOGAN.
