Prince Amled pipes are believed to have been produced by Kriswill — one of the serious rivals to Stanwell during Denmark's mid-century pipe boom — though the brand kept its own name on the shank rather than Kriswill's. That heritage shows in the quality here.
This is a Pickaxe freehand with a striking flame-grain rustication running in dark streaks across a warm orange-red stain. I have to say, the depth of this rustication is a genuine eye-catcher in person — it's not a subtle texture, it has real presence. The shank also carries a stamped number alongside the maker's mark (possibly 98 — the exact digits are hard to make out in the decorative stamping style), likely a model or shape designation.
The stem is horn, not vulcanite, threaded directly into the shank with no metal insert — a construction detail consistent with older, traditional mid-century Danish workshop pieces.
In the interest of full transparency: there's some dark stain visible running down inside the stem from the airway that I wasn't able to remove without risking damage to the horn. It doesn't affect structural integrity or smoking function, but I want you going in with complete information. Please review all photos closely, as they're part of the description.
Condition: carefully restored estate pipe, presented honestly. Bowl reamed, sanitized, ready to smoke.
