Authentic vintage Pyle-National railroad locomotive tender back-up light with heavy cast-metal housing, clear concentric Fresnel glass lens, reflector, hinged front assembly, locking hardware and original-style mounting bracket.The light carries the recognizable Pyle-National “PN” casting trademark on the front assembly, along with additional casting/part markings including 2279. The bulb socket is marked “TRANS-LITE, INC.” Trans-Lite acquired the Pyle-National railroad-lighting line in the 1960s, suggesting this light may have remained in railroad service long enough to receive a later replacement or service component.This style of compact, tapered Pyle-National lamp was used as a back-up/rear tender light on steam locomotives. It is substantially complete and has the rugged construction expected of genuine railroad equipment.Good original vintage railroad condition with age-appropriate paint loss, oxidation, surface wear and mounting marks. The Fresnel glass lens is intact; there is a visible scratch on the glass, which is shown in the photographs. No cracks or breaks in the lens were observed. Reflector, bulb socket, hinged bezel, latch mechanism and mounting bracket are present. Wiring appears to have been serviced/replaced at some point. Electrical operation has not been tested, so it is being sold as an antique railroad collectible/display piece.Approximate visible glass diameter: 4¾ inches.
