The Qantas Boeing 737-800 VH-VXQ, known as "Retro Roo II," was paintedcelebrating the airline's 95th anniversary.in a special 1959-1961 livery
It featured the "flying kangaroo" design from the era of Qantas' first jet aircraft, the Boeing 707. As of late 2024, it has since been repainted into the standard livery.
The "Retro Roo II" livery was unique for its time, focusing on the 1959 Qantas "Overseas Airline" branding.
"Retro Roo I": A separate Qantas aircraft (VH-XZP) features a different 1971-1984 "Ochre" retro livery.

About Qantas:
Qantas Airways is the flag carrier of Australia and its largest airline by fleet size, international flights and international destinations. It is the third oldest airline in the World, after KLM, and Avianca having been founded in November 1920; it began international passenger flights in May 1935.
The Qantas name comes from 'QANTAS' an acronym for its original name, 'Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services' and it is nicknamed "The Flying Kangaroo". Qantas is a founding member of the OneWorld airline alliance.
In July 1959 Qantas entered the Jet Age with Boeing 707 services to the USA. The service was extended to London (via New York). Sydney-London services (via India) began in October 1959. In total, Qantas took delivery of seven Boeing 707-138 aircraft, and a further six-138Bs.
From November 1959 to May 1963, Qantas operated six DE Havilland Comet 4 aircraft, wet leased from BOAC. The aircraft were crewed by BOAC flight and cabin crew and featured Qantas titles on the fuselage in place of the BOAC titles
In 1981 Qantas became the world's only all Boeing 747 operator when two short body 747SPs also entered the fleet for flights to Wellington [due to its short runway], and then they were subsequently used on non-stop flights between Sydney and Los Angeles.In November 1984, Qantas commenced service with six Boeing 747-338 aircraft with an extended upper deck.On its delivery flight the first, 1989-built Boeing 747-400 flew a record-breaking nonstop flight from London to Sydney in little more than 20 hours; as of January 2015 that record still stands.
From 1985, the first of seven Boeing 767-238ERs entered the fleet. These were followed by the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, with the first example delivered in August 1988; seven additional Boeing 767-336ERs were leased and subsequently purchased from British Airways and entering service from August 2000.
2003 Qantas introduced the Airbus A330 in the early 2000s as a major fleet upgrade, marking their first Airbus aircraft, primarily for domestic "Cityflyer" routes before expanding internationally.
2007 saw the introduction of the Qantas Airbus Industrie A380 its acquisition was to enable the phasing out of the famous Boeing B747 Jumbo Jet. With the A380 Qantas achieved a perfect flight via utilising the A380 Flight Management Computers for a Sydney 'Gate to Gate' Los Angeles flight.
2017 Introduced the Qantas Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner that has the capability to fly from Perth-Australia to London-UK non-stop.
2024 Qantas introduced its new Airbus A220-300s as part of Project Winton to replace Boeing 717s. They offer wider seats, lower emissions, and increased range for domestic routes, with plans to expand to short-haul international flights, like Brisbane-Wellington, starting in February 2026.
2025 saw Qantas introduce the new Airbus A321XLR in mid-2025, with its first passenger flight in September, marking the first Asia-Pacific airline to operate the type, offering a more spacious cabin, larger windows, better bag storage (60% more), free Wi-Fi, and improved sustainability, flying longer domestic and short-haul international routes like Brisbane-Sydney and opening up new possibilities to Asia/Pacific islands, with a new interior featuring ambient lighting and device charging.
This is one of the most important airliner aircraft of the 20th and 21st Century in a terrific and impressive 1/200 scale.

Collectors' Hint 1 - What are my choices with Plastic Model purchasing and collecting?
It is the nature of the Space and Aviation market that Space and Aircraft Model Kits of important space or aviationvehicles tend to be limited in production or alternatively sell very quickly. Two different examples are the premier Apollo 11 kits or the P-51 Mustang.
Many model kits are 're-launched' on significant anniversaries.
Typically, the two key choices when purchasing plastic model kits are:
i)Make the Plastic Model or
ii) Preserve the Plastic Model 'pristine' in its box and with all original plans and parts for the future.
The former choice i) provides the enjoyment and satisfaction of model making, more so when they are rare or unusual models.
The latter choice ii) can sometimes result in a purchase worth thousands of dollars in later years or decades. There are hundreds of examples.
Of course a 3rd choice is to benefit from both and purchase two models!
