RARE 1895-86 Set of 4 Henry Saint-George \"History of the Bow\" Original Strad :
$145.00

History of the Bow Henry Saint-GeorgeOriginal 4 Plates from 1895-1896
(including Tourte, Peccate, Dodd, Lupot bows)
From The Strad Magazine. In good condition.
I have recently acquired a collection of 100+ of these posters dating from 1892 - 1930s. They include numerous famous instrument makers, performers, and lots of beautiful prints of iconic instruments.

This is a complete, consecutive set of four original Victorian-era plates from The Strad (1895–1896), illustrating the seminal work of Henry Saint-George. These aren\'t just decorative prints; they are essential technical documents detailing the structural transformation of the bow from its primitive origins to the refined masterpieces of the 19th century.

This 4-part series includes:

Sep 1895: Various Bows

Oct 1895: Dodd Bows

Nov 1895: Tourte Bows

Jan 1896: Lupot, Peccate, and Panormo Bows

Finding all four plates from this specific 130-year-old series in one place is exceptionally rare. For a bow maker, restorer, or string historian, this set provides an unparalleled reference of the \"Saint-George standard.\" Printed on authentic 1890s paper with the character and patina that only a century of history can provide.

Approx. 9 3/4 inch x 6 3/4 inch
This rare, original supplement from The Strad magazine dates from the magazine’s most iconic era (1892–1939) and offers a unique window into the \"Golden Age\" of violin making and performance.
Among the set of posters that I have available...
These vintage posters are highly coveted by luthiers for technical reference and by collectors for their historical provenance, featuring a \"who’s who\" of legendary instruments and virtuosos including the \"Le Messie\" Stradivari, the 1702 Strad, the \"Imperial Joseph\" Guarneri del Gesù, Andrea Amati, J.B. Guadagnini, and Maggini, as well as master bow makers like Tourte, Lupot, and Peccatte. This collection also highlights the greatest performers of the age, such as Joseph Joachim, Pablo Sarasate, Eugene Ysaye, Fritz Kreisler, Mischa Elman, Bronisław Huberman, Lady Hallé, Lady Speyer, Emile Sauret, César Thomson, Adolph Brodsky, David Popper, Willy Burmester, August Wilhelmj, and Johannes Wolff. Additionally, it includes rare historical scenes like Stradivari’s Workshop and the seminal Henry Saint-George \"History of the Bow\" plates. Each piece is a genuine antique artifact, not a modern reproduction, making it an essential acquisition for any serious violin shop, music historian, or dedicated string enthusiast.
