This collection of pre-Revolution 1941 Guatemala film slides is truly unique and historical. The photographer, a professional or gifted amateur, had remarkable access (we're guessing he was imbedded with United Fruit Company or was a journalist). Examples of subjects include: Guatemalan laborers, markets, streets, women doing laundry in a creek, a man carrying an entire bed on his back, workers boarding a boat and being taken to an island, inspection of a banana tree, Americans/Europeans eating breakfast at their home and boarding a canoe, PanAm aircraft and airstrip in a field, aerial photos of beautiful landscape, ruins, churches, dancing, traditional dress - just remarkable images, and we haven't even tried to clean/dust them.
These photos would have been about 3 years before the October Revolution. Date is verified by dated license plate, new 1940 luxury vehicle, other vehicles from late 1930s, identified Pan American Airways aircraft manufactured in 1940.
We're not selling these slides individually because we're hoping a museum or historian will keep the beautiful collection intact. We are including the case, which lacks a handle but otherwise isn't in bad shape and matches the cloth mounts.
