Jesús José Bernabe Campechano (1935-2019) was a Grand Master potter from Tonalá, Jalisco, Mexico. Although he had created a number of traditional Jalisco ceramics, he is most known for keeping the disappearing ceramic form of "petatillo" alive. His family began making petatillo pottery in the mid 19th century, and he continues the legacy by teaching his children as well. José has won many awards, including the Galardon Angel Carranza of Mexico's National Ceramics Prize in 1989.
