RARE! Kaywoodie \"ALL BRIAR\" Estate Pipe Stembiter Stem Shape 69 101 Stamp
This rare Kaywoodie ALL BRIAR pipe is in very good condition, having seen little use. The areas of note are as follows. The original lacquer has worn away close to the button on top and bottom. There seems to be a small amount of wear from use, but I do not see tooth indentations. There is just a hint of darkening on the smooth rim. The stem does not quite align straight, however it does not turn past level. It actually stops short of level, so there is plenty of room to adjust if you choose to do so. The interior of the bowl does have some carbon and may have been reamed at one time. The draft hole seems to be a bit enlarged, so it may have experienced a little charring at some point. There are some very small dings around the top of the bowl. There is some faint ghosting. There may be one incredibly small flaw or fill, as notated by the arrow in the photo. Please use the provided photos as a continuation of the description.
These pipes saw a short production run from 1952-1955, making this one something special.
The Stembiter stem is indeed all briar, and has the notched holes on top and bottom as well as the twin-bore design.
The stamping is crisp. The stem and button are free of toothmarks or chatter. With the exception of the possible small fill noted, I cannot find any other fills or flaws, which aligns with this specific Kaywoodie logo, indicating a premium, higher grade of pipe in the Kaywoodie line. The draft hole is centered and sits just a small amount above the very bottom of the bowl. The stinger and stem are clean and free of gunk. I do not see any cracks anywhere or fissures within the bowl.
