Vintage Jack Daniel’s “Mr. Jack Daniel, Esquire” Porcelain Statue Decanter – New Old Stock in Original Box
A fantastic and exceptionally well-preserved piece of Jack Daniel’s history.
This vintage Mr. Jack Daniel, Esquire porcelain statue decanter was designed and imported exclusively for the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The large hand-painted porcelain piece stands just over 10 inches tall and was designed to hold approximately one quart, with Mr. Jack’s removable hat serving as the stopper.
According to period information about the piece, collectors had been asking Jack Daniel’s for a statue decanter for years before it was finally offered through the Hardware and General Store in Lynchburg.
What makes these particularly interesting is their short-lived availability. Collector information accompanying the original advertisement states that the General Store stopped selling the decanter because the cork attached beneath the hat broke very easily. It further states that only a limited number were sold to the public before sales were discontinued, contributing to how difficult complete examples can be to find today.
Exceptional New Old Stock Example
This particular example is especially impressive because it comes with its original cardboard shipping box, molded Styrofoam packaging, protective plastic and removable hat/cork stopper.
The original box had remained sealed and was only recently opened to inspect and photograph the contents. The decanter itself is unused and never displayed, making this a remarkable survivor compared with examples that have been handled or displayed over the years.
The underside is marked:
“Mr. Jack Daniel, Esquire
1850–1911
Fine Porcelain Sculpture
Designed and Imported Exclusively for
Jack Daniel Distillery
Lynchburg, Tennessee”
and carries the Japan mark.
The original carton is marked:

For the serious Jack Daniel’s collector, finding the statue is one thing—finding one complete with the original box, Styrofoam packaging, plastic and intact removable stopper is considerably more desirable.
