RARE Spain Artilleria Toledo Plug Bayonet Hunting Dagger Wood Handle READ DETAIL For Sale

See photos as this is the exact item you will receive. This is an Artilleria Toledo plug bayonet or hunting dagger that appears to show the date 1696 or 1896 (hard to make out). For many countries the 1696 makes more sense, but Spain did use plug bayonets into the late 19th century per research.There are oiled rust areas, discoloration/patina, the handle is a bit loose likely due to wood age shrinkage, there are scuffs, scratches, pitting, sharpening, a few flea bites where another blade (or bone?) contacted, etc. Nothing too bad in my opinion for a used vintage dagger like this that was used for hunting and or war. The handle was designed to allow the dagger to fit directly into a musket barrel if so desired, hence how they could become worn/scuffed on the wood. This dagger weighs just over 1 pound as shown and is wide, especially where the blade meats the handle...robust metal is there to protect the hand from other blades I would imagine or to keep the blade from penetrating too far into the hunted. I\'ve seen values all over the place, but setting this at a reasonable price and allowing offers. Need another photo? Give me up to 24 hours to respond so that I can go by to the storage facility.
