RARE c.1800s Heavy 11” Copper Brass Tin Pot 2 Fish Mold Bottom Wall Decor.
Super cool piece of history, here! Description is our “best guess” of the item thru research as there are no noticed markings on the item to 100% confirm info!
Believe the item to date back to 1800s. Many pots made during this time were of copper with a tin lining. It appears that the bottom is copper as the two fish molded in the bottom have a few scratch marks with copper coloring showing through. The item has not been polished and shows the natural patina of the different metals- besides copper and tin, the handles appear to be brass. The patina -green color of aged/oxidized copper and brass (called verdigris) is quite evident on different parts of the pot but adds a neat antique look to the item.
With some cleaning and confirmed seal of the pot it could be used for cooking purposes, but also what a cool piece to display for farmhouse, or old Americana charm. Perhaps use as a planter for your favorite plant.
