Offered for sale is an original late-1920s RCA Radiola 60 AC superheterodyne tube radio with matching RCA electrodynamic cone speaker.
This is a complete, original survivor set from the early days of household AC radios (circa 1928–1929).
Condition & Testing
This set has been carefully powered up using a variac.
Testing results:
- Type 80 rectifier tube lights
- Power transformer runs cool and stable
- Speaker produces steady hum at full line voltage
- Volume control produces light crackle when rotated
- No stations received during test
- Not electronically restored
- Original capacitors remain in place
Radio was brought slowly to full line voltage (121V) and monitored. No smoke, overheating, or abnormal smells observed.
Speaker field coil is active (confirmed by hum).
Set is being sold as an unrestored vintage electronic device and will likely require capacitor replacement and full servicing for reliable operation.
Cosmetic Condition
- Cabinet veneer is intact and structurally solid
- Finish appears original with normal age wear
- Original escutcheons and controls present
- Original cloth wiring leads intact
- Speaker grille cloth shows age and wear (see photos)
