NOTICE! READ BEFORE PURCHASING!!!!
These pouches represent a small initial sample-order of reproductions. Because of this, they still have a few flaws that I want to be completely transparent about. Because of the flaws listed below I am selling them at a discounted price. My hope is to have perfect product to sell in a few months at full retail, but for now these are available at a discount, today.
Issues:
- Fabric is a perfect match for weave, but could be slightly stiffer.
- Metal ring is supposed to be steel, but its aluminum. This means it is more delicate than steel and cannot be bent/ re-bent into shape.
- The strap onto which the metal ring is attached to was sewn onto the back of the pouch too high up. The stitching runs onto the top of the top flap instead of only up the back. This means the pouch may look odd when hung by the metal ring.
Reproduction Soviet VDV RD-54 Grenade Pouch
This is a faithful reproduction of the grenade pouch from theRD-54(Ryukzak Desantnyymodel 1954) backpack system. Technical Specs & Construction
Historical Context for Reenactors
In the field, many soldiers modified their issued gear, especially the RD-54 backpack system. It was common practice for paratroopers to cut these pouches away from the backpack frame to create "self-made" chest rigs or to use them solo a belt for easier access. This reproduction allows you to replicate thesesoldier-modifiedloadouts without damaging a rare, original 1950s-1980s dated item.
Common Applications
RD-54 Restoration:Replace pouches on backpacks that were previously cut away or damaged.
Custom Chest Rigs:Combine multiple pouches (Magazine & Grenade) together with AK slings as shoulder straps to create your own "Self-made" chest rig
Increased Capacity:Can be sewn directly onto the back panels of an existing RD-54 pack, or even onto shirts or vests to increase magazine carrying capacity.
Color Variation Note
Authentic Soviet canvas was notorious for color shifts between batches. While this reproduction pouch was color matched to a handful of real pouches during production, note that it may not be an exact color match to YOUR vintage surplus items. Real RD-54's color may vary due to factory origins, UV fading and field use.
