A rare souvenir porcelain pitcher made in Germany for the Woodstock, Vermont firm of W.D. Cabot (Willard D. Cabot), which used to occupy premises on Elm St. in Woodstock, selling furniture and household items. Route 4 which today spans the deep gorge across the Ottauquechee River was originally constructed in 1911 as a railway bridge on the line running between White River Junction and Woodstock. The Route 4 auto route opened in 1933.
