For sale is a stunning and highly unique set of three (3) commemorative plates honoring the 2500th Anniversary of the founding of the Persian Empire by Cyrus the Great.
What makes this set exceptionally rare is the provenance. While the porcelain blanks appear to be high-quality (one marked \"Crate & Barrel\"), they have been exquisitely hand-decorated by the late Colonel Hassan Hatefi in California. Col. Hatefi was known for his meticulous artistic tributes to Iranian heritage.
The set includes:
1. Large Commemorative Plate: Features the Cyrus Cylinder (the first charter of human rights) at the center, topped with the Imperial Pahlavi Coat of Arms and surrounded by a golden lotus border.
2. Ornate Cut-Out (Reticulated) Plate: A beautiful decorative piece with a lattice-work border in cobalt blue and gold, featuring the Imperial Crest.
3. Accent Plate: Features a deep crimson/maroon border with the Imperial Crest and golden lotus patterns.
Inscriptions:
The plates bear the Persian calligraphy: \"2500th Anniversary of the Founding of the Persian Empire\" and \"Shahanshah of Iran.\"
Condition:
The plates are in excellent condition with no visible chips or cracks. The gold leaf and colors remain vibrant. The back of the reticulated plate retains the original artist\'s label, dated April 1, 2007.
