The closest documented match is in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Their example is cataloged as a K419 Keen Kutter “Royal Razor” with the same basic markings: “K / 419 / KEEN KUTTER,” “ROYAL RAZOR / E. C. SIMMONS / KEEN KUTTER,” and “ROYAL” on the handle.
The Smithsonian dates that model broadly to 1900–1939 and identifies the scales as cellulose nitrate/celluloid, not modern plastic.
Biggest pros: All original. HEFTY 7/8\" wide blade. Most keen kutters out there do not compare...5/8\" or less without this unique face engraving and historical significance.Only negatives is a little rust in the pivot area like most vintage razors and some discoloration mostly on the non engraved face. All things considered...I don\'t think you\'ll see another one like this any time soon.

Remember your blade can last HUNDREDS of years or a month. That\'s entirely up to you. Always...ALWAYS dry your razor after use. Get a stand so it can drip dry if nothing else and apply a little of this oil to your steel after use and you will not have to worry about rust.
