Incredibly rare, highly collectible piece of 1970s pop culture history, this is a 1972 Schmid Brothers Inc. figurine based on Kim Casali’s famous Los Angeles Times comic strip, featuring the quote: "Love is... mending his jeans over and over again" and the original limited tape measure which pulls from the base/side of the piece.
Unlike the standard solid statues from this era, this is the rare functional novelty sewing variation featuring a built-in retractable measuring tape!
100% Fully Functional: The internal spring mechanism works well. The measuring tape pulls out smoothly and retracts as well. The beige felt covering the bottom of the piece is secure along with the gold label. Minor pilling on the felt. See photos for details.
Original Gold Foil Label Intact: The original Schmid authentication gold sticker is perfectly preserved on the base. Most of these were peeled off or dissolved decades ago.
