Vintage WARTIME MONT BLANC 334 1/2 fountain pen with a gold-plated Montblanc # 4 1/2 M- Medium point nib. It is flexy and smooth, as can be seen on the writing sample provided.
This is a very rare and hard to find wartime version. During WW2 Germany imposed restrictions on materials like gold, so it was forofferden to make items out of it when it wasn’t absolutely necessary. With this model, Montblanc went one step further and not only made the nib out of steel, but omitted the double golden cap rings, which were replaced by 4 "rings" stamped onto the celluloid cap.
A very interesting pen entirely made from celluloid, the 33X were made alongside 23X and Meisterstuck 13X pens. These pens, mostly made in the 1940's had flat ends, while the later 14X, 24X and 34X pens were round at the ends. This was the midsize model from the lineup.
I will manufacture a new cork gasket and install it in the pen.
The pen is in near mint condition, as you can see in the pictures. It is a piston filler pen. The pen itself has been fully serviced, which included disassembly, thorough cleaning and all moving parts lubrication, thus the pistons operates smoothly. You can see the pen fully disassembled in one of the pictures.
I have provided a writing sample using Pelikan 4001 black tint, in order to further describe the writing characteristics of the nib. Please keep in mind that I am a left-handed writer.
